The Process - A New Portrait

I have finally started on paper and out of my mind, a new portrait.  It is about 1/4 of the way done.  I am posting two images one of the "cartoon" (the rough outline) mixed with the beginning of the actual drawing, and then the second is a close up on the eyes.  I was pleased with the sparkle in the eyes.  If the eyes are dead the portrait is dead!  I will post more as I get them together.

    it's looking great so far. I definitely see the sparkle in the eye. I like the way the ear ring looks like it's coming out of the frame.

    Thanks, I like to add little surprises like that once in awhile in my portraits. It makes it difficult to mat though. I might cut around the earring in the mat to add another element. Hopefully the portrait finishes nicely.
