Art Snobs Need Not Apply!

Snobbery and art should not be hand-in-hand!  I am so tired of going to art functions and the atmosphere is aloof and pretentious.  I'm also tired of seeing "cheap" fix art instead of well crafted, well thought out, powerful art.  The art world is as commercialized as anything out there.  No sense of individualism.

  1. I agree. There is art and there is ART. There are artists and then there are ARTISTS. It is disheartening for me to go to a show and see 'art' that I could make in an hour with only my High School art education as a guide. The bar needs to be raised quite a bit. Too many posers playing angst ridden artists. If I see one more anti Bush or Republican piece, I will be sick. Let's expand a bit and show us something new for a change. I appreciate the integrity of your Art Lisa, I think that is what makes you and others stand out- you are keeping true and not taking shortcuts or chasing the artistic equivalent of the flavour of the month.

  2. Well said, and thank you - it is very important to me to be true to my talent and true to the community at large.

  3. So true! I went to one of the things on Thursdays in Scottsdale where all the galleries are open and I felt so out of place in jeans and a sweatshirt, haha. I feel like art is such an open and expressive outlet, so why be so uptight and snooty about it? I don't get it.
